KRAMERART.NET Experience has taught me that once an artwork is complete, my ideas and opinions as to what a work means are no more valid than any other observers. This space is where I share my thoughts about what I see in my artwork.
“Running on Orange Sunshine” (2021) This painting is the most complete realization of the combination of my many influences to date. It has elements of sacred geometry, op-art, conceptual art, and color field painting all working together. This is a re-working of a painting, formally tittled “Fire, Water, and Air Mandala” that was originally completed in 2011, and then reworked in 2018. It “worked” as a doorway in both of those interations, but the viewer had to “go it it”. In my eyes, now it “comes to you” in a much clearer way. I re-titled it because, to me, it now illustrates the experience of running during a psychedelic experience. I could feel the wall of fear, built up over many falls, that preventing me from running faster, and then with that insight being able to break past that wall. added 2/15/22
BLOG In ed’s head
I got to see one of my earliest large paintings recently. I had a ways to go regarding technique and materials - but definitely well on the road to where I was going as an artist.
“Khatam study #2” (2021) I recently re-work a painting that I stopped working on in 2017 to see if I felt like it was complete. Four years later, my muse took my hand and moved it forward (deeper). (2017 version below.)
